Safety and coercion
Asked for intimate photos fast
1 report mentions this, in the last 90 days.
Within the first day or two, the conversation turns sexual and they want photos or a video call with the camera on. Often they send something first to make it feel mutual. It's the setup for sextortion, and it's the most common way that starts.
What it looks like
- Flirting escalates to explicit within hours.
- They send an image first ('your turn').
- Pressure framed as trust: 'don't you feel the same?'
- A push to move to Snapchat or another app where they can record.
Why do they ask for photos so early?
Getting an image early gives them leverage before you know anything about them, and sending one first makes refusing feel unfair. The photo they sent is usually not them. Once they have yours, the tone flips to demands, and the whole thing was engineered for that moment.
What to do
- Don't send images to someone you've just met, whatever they sent first.
- If you already did and threats followed, read this before you do anything else. Don't pay.
- Report and block the account. Keep screenshots.
- If you're under 18, tell a trusted adult. NCMEC's Take It Down can remove images without anyone seeing them.
